Day-Wise Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival at Narkanda
Participants arrive at Narkanda, a charming Himalayan town surrounded by dense pine forests and panoramic mountain views. The group gathers at Tethys Ski Resort, where the expedition begins with a briefing session, introductions, and vehicle checks. The evening is spent relaxing, getting to know fellow travelers, and preparing for the journey ahead. The overnight stay is at Tethys Ski Resort, Narkanda.
Day 2 – Narkanda to Sangla
The drive begins as we descend towards the Sutlej River and enter the spectacular Kinnaur region. The road winds through dramatic cliffs and scenic valleys before reaching the beautiful Sangla Valley. Known for its apple orchards and picturesque villages, Sangla offers breathtaking views of the Kinnaur Kailash range. Thereafter we’ll stay at Banjara Camps & Retreat, Sangla.
Day 3 – Sangla to Chitkul and back to Sangla
Today we drive to Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibetan border. Surrounded by towering peaks and the Baspa River, Chitkul is one of the most scenic villages in the Himalayas. After exploring the village and enjoying the peaceful surroundings, we return to Sangla for the evening. Overnight stay will be reserved at Banjara Camps & Retreat, Sangla.
Day 4 – Sangla to Tabo
The journey continues deeper into the Himalayas as we leave Kinnaur and enter the stark landscapes of Spiti Valley. Passing through Nako village, perched above a small high-altitude lake, the drive offers constantly changing scenery, from lush valleys to barren high-altitude deserts.
By evening we reach Tabo, home to one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in the Himalayas. We’ll stay overnight at Spiti Mud Huts (or equivalent), Tabo.
Day 5 – Tabo – Dhankar – Pin Valley – Kaza
The day begins with a visit to the ancient Tabo Monastery, often referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas.” We then drive to Dhankar Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliff overlooking the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers.
From here we explore the stunning Pin Valley, known for its rugged beauty and remote villages, before continuing onward to Kaza, the administrative capital of Spiti.
Day 6 – Kaza – Langza – Komik – Hikkim – Kaza
Today we explore some of the highest motorable villages in the world. The drive takes us to Langza, known for its fossil-rich terrain and giant Buddha statue overlooking the valley.
We continue to Komik, one of the highest villages accessible by road, and then to Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office. After soaking in the dramatic views and peaceful surroundings, we return to Kaza.
Day 7 – Kaza – Chicham – Kye – Kaza
This day is dedicated to exploring the cultural and spiritual heart of Spiti. We visit the iconic Kye Monastery, the largest monastery in the valley, perched dramatically on a hilltop.
We then drive across the famous Chicham Bridge, one of Asia’s highest suspension bridges, offering breathtaking views of the deep gorge below. After a day filled with exploration and photography, we return to Kaza.
Day 8 – Kaza to Manali
The final driving day is one of the most adventurous sections of the journey. We drive through Losar, the last village of Spiti, before ascending to the high mountain pass of Kunzum La.
Weather permitting, we take a detour to the stunning Chandertal Lake, known for its crescent shape and surreal beauty. The journey then continues through the legendary Atal Tunnel, bringing us into the lush green valleys of Manali. We retire for the night at Anantmaya Resort, Manali.
Day 9 – Departure from Manali
After breakfast, the expedition concludes in Manali. Participants bid farewell to fellow travelers and depart with unforgettable memories of the Himalayan adventure.
