Spiti Valley- The Heaven on the Earth

Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley situated in the rain shodow of the Greater Himalayas in the north-eastern part of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

 

This is the land between India and Tibet; And falls between Kullu and Leh. Spiti Valley is one of the least populated areas in India and is also the gateway to the northernmost reach of the nation.

Spiti Valley is a cultural center for Buddhists. The main attractions include the main monastery and the Taobo monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the world and the favorites of the Dalai Lama.  If is often regarded as the winter wonderland of the western Himalayas.  A trip to Spiti valley in wintertime is regarded as one of the most saught-after experience among the adventure travel aficionados.     

Some of the key attractions of Spiti Valley include:

Kaza

It is the headquarters of Spiti Valley. It acts as a base camp for mountaineering, trekking and moving parts around the valley. This is Spiti Valley’s largest city.

Lake Chandertal

It is a beautiful lake situated at an altitude of 4300 meters in the Himalayas. The name of Chandilal or Moon Lake came from its crescent moon shape. It is located between the mountains and hills of the Peerpangal range, which is one of the most breathtaking sites in the world.

Key Monastery

This place is famous for its monastery, which is believed to be founded by Drumman, a famous teacher of Astisha. It is very close to the Spiti River.

Nako

In between, a small village with a man-made lake gives you a peak-peak in the life of the people of Spiti.

Komic Village

The highest village connected to a road, about 20 kilometers away from Kaza It is at an altitude of 18000 feet above sea level.

Langza Village

A beautiful small village, which is also famous for its ancient fossils. They can buy local people.

Kibber

Local people call it Kheyipur, it is one of the highest villages in the world. Another greetate can also be reached from here.

Lhalung Monastery

Tayul monastery, i.e. Tayul Gompa, is considered to be the oldest monastery in the northern region. The monastery is tall among the mighty mountains.

It is located at an altitude of 3900 meters above sea level in the Bhaga valley of Lahaul and Spiti. Satingri village is home to Tayul Gompa, where the upper kelong can be reached by sidewalk.

There is a huge collection of 101 Buddhist scriptures of “Kangyur” in the Tayul monastery library.

Kunzum Pass

Located at an elevation of 4551 meters above sea level, it is the gateway to the Spiti valley through Kullu and Lahaul. It is 122 km from Manali. The 360 degree view of the Bara-Shigri glacier can be seen from Kunjum Dar.

Dhankar

Located between Kaza and Tabo, Dhankar Math is the oldest in this area. From here you can see the Spiti River and go to Pin Valley.

Tabo Monastery

At the height of 10, 000 feet, Tabō exhibits the beauty and beauty of Buddhism. The oldest monastery here is 996 A.D.
The monastery is known as Himalaya’s Ajanta caves because the monastery walls are decorated with murals and ancient paintings.
